A group of international speakers who are
experts in the field of accelerating the growth of renewables
was assembled at SEANZ08. A Government regulatory and policy
panel and an energy industry panel presented and discussed their
role in enabling and increasing the uptake of renewables in New
Zealand.
Discussion centred on:
- International policy trends, Feed-in Tariffs (FIT’s) and
their relevance for New Zealand
- The Resource Management Act and issues for local
authorities with consenting processes and what can
be done to make things easier for all parties
concerned
- The Ministry of Economic Development (MED)
Distributed Generation Rules, one year on how this
is working?
- What is going on in the market place regarding
purchase of exported electricity from small scale
embedded generators
- Overseas and local case studies on solar PV and
wind turbine implementations with innovative
approaches to market development.
