SEANZ has a 3 level approach to ensuring quality in the small scale renewables industry.
- Training
- Accreditation
- Standards
SEANZ has recently announced a competency based accreditation programme which will be based on comprehensive training.
Training will build upon a robust set of industry standards that define minimum safety requirements and best practice.
Training will begin in February 2009 with accreditation commencing at the start of 2010.
SEANZ believes that standards, training and accreditation is fundamental to growing and developing a professional small scale renewables industry.
- Standards define minimum safety requirements and industry best practice
-
Installers and designers should have access to training on how to conform with relevant New Zealand standards. Small scale renewable energy standards are now referenced in the New Zealand Wiring Rules
-
Growing businesses need qualified and competent people
-
Consumers need a way to identify competent and professional designers and installers
-
There should be a clear career path and training available to those wanting to become part of the industry
