This residential solar project in Stanmore Bay was designed for a homeowner who wanted to reduce power costs, make better use of available roof space, and improve how solar energy was used within the home.

The property had a strong north-facing roof, although part of the roof experienced some morning shading. As part of every solar system we deliver, Dieco works with reputable New Zealand suppliers to ensure the products used are suitable for the site, supported locally, and backed by businesses that will be available over the long term. For this project, Dieco worked with JA Russell to source Suntech bifacial solar panels suited to the installation.

The final system included 18 x 455W panels, delivering approximately 8.2kW of solar capacity, paired with a 6kW hybrid inverter. This gave the homeowner immediate solar savings, with the option to add battery storage in the future.

The design focused on making practical use of the available north-facing roof area while keeping the system clean, simple, and cost-effective. To help the homeowner use more solar energy on site, Dieco added a controlled time circuit for the hot water cylinder, allowing hot water heating to be shifted into peak solar production periods.

Customer education is part of every system we deliver. Dieco walked Ken through how to get the best performance from the system, including practical guidance around energy use, hot water timing, and future battery options.

Dieco also provided a full turnkey service, managing the distributed generation application, network approvals, installation, commissioning, and handover.

The result was a tailored solar solution designed around the property, the customer’s energy use, and long-term flexibility.
