Base Power is an all-in-one, solar powered energy system. Excess energy is stored in batteries, with a diesel generator providing back-up.
Developed by Powerco, New Zealand’s largest electricity distributor by network length, Base Power provides urban quality electricity in even the most remote of locations. The off-grid system is recommended for remote rural customers where it may be a viable power supply alternative to traditional overhead lines.
Base Power units are customised to suit individual customer situations and energy needs, and can be delivered by truck or helicopter.
The battery management system means Base Power is easy to use, with customers only needing to top up the generator’s diesel. The energy storage unit is self-sufficient.
Base Power units are currently used to power rural homes, woolsheds and holiday homes.
