Good news for solar in Otago! ☀️
From August, Aurora Energy will double the amount of solar customers can export to the grid—from 5kW to 10kW. This is a major win for solar households in Dunedin and Otago, who can now save more, earn more, and contribute more to a sustainable future.
This shift follows a successful trial using Bluecurrent smart meters, which provided detailed power quality and voltage data from over 60,000 homes. The results gave Aurora the confidence to safely raise the export limit.
SEANZ believes 10kW should be the national default export limit—this trial shows it can be done when networks have access to the right data. Kudos to Aurora for leading the way where others are holding back.
