Lower electricity costs – regulators doing the right thing
The Energy Task Force, a collaboration between the Commerce Commission and the Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko, has officially launched initiatives to help consumers. This marks a significant shift towards giving consumers more say in the electricity market, reducing costs, and creating a fairer system for solar and battery users.
Never before have regulators stepped up in this way to work on levelling the playing field for electricity consumers. As Chair of SEANZ I can say this is long overdue.
Consultation is now underway, and we encourage everyone to take part. This is a critical opportunity to influence policy and help drive down electricity prices in the mid to long term for all consumers across Aotearoa.
