As part of Air New Zealand’s drive toward greater sustainability and energy resilience, Maximum Electrical Ltd and Greenstage Power (software provider and consultancy team) installed a solar PV system featuring 120 high-efficiency 440-watt panels, paired with three battery units providing a total of 52kw of PV and 144kWh of storage.
While compact relative to the scale of the building, this system delivers meaningful environmental and operational benefits. It supports Hangar 4’s Green Star certification and ensures reliable backup power for the hangar door operation — a crucial element of the facility’s fire suppression and safety systems.
This project demonstrates how even a modest solar installation can make a significant impact, combining clean energy generation with enhanced resilience for essential operations.
